Alhambra Ceiling

Detail of the ceiling of the Alhambra Theater, Sacramento, California. This medallion feature was about 50 feet in diameter. The amazing Alhambra showplace was torn down in 1973 to make room for a Safeway market. I shot this during demolition. A day or two later this beautiful ceiling was rubble--very sad.
